Since all this stuff surfaced with my main goto paint it has left a bad taste in my mouth. I had always enjoyed using the product as well as sacrificing the price to walk out of the store. Deep down I despise going to Home Depot for my paint. I could create a paragraph as to why that is but this isn't what its about. I have continued to use this paint becuase I agree and under stand why Jack loves it.
I have a new job that I need to prime. I buy all my sundries from Dulux as they are litterily located a 60 second drive from where I live. They keep bugging me to test Diamond as well as price it competitively. I am going to try it and get it over with. I want to see how I like it. I am not sure of an alternative right now. The only other paint I have enjoyed is from Cloverdale which may be next to try again.

It was very thick and not the easiest to apply(in the 350). I may try the 450 on an upcoming job to see how it compares with Manor Hall. Keep us posted.

Not sure if formula changes were made to improve anything, its not likely because what you see here is every paint on the market except for Regal Select Matte now that Behr dropped out of that category. So, this is 1 primer and 3 finish. Look sealed? Notice how the primer failed to seal the mud and board and also 3 coats of paint didn't change how the wall was sealed. The sealing ability of the paint was equal to the primer in this case; neither seal the surface.

Don't tell Me You've put all Your work on hold, pending finding another suitable Paint! Bust it out Man, what have you been using, and how has it been performing? Enquiring minds want to know. I'm just vocalizing what everyone else is thinking.

I have accepted my 5 free gallons of Diamond. I went ahead and used up 7 gallons of PVA primer. First time using it on my own job in a long time. I cut and rolled a little with the Diamond. It does seem to be a nice paint from the little expeience I have with application. I didn't put it on bare drywall yet. I kept rolling the PVA till it was gone and the whole house got coated. This is my first time not going to HD for paint and man I loved being able to call the phone and come pick it up. HD here dosnt have a phone at the paint desk and theres often DIYers inline that I need to wait for which takes along time because they are also asking the Staff how to paint etc. As a professional painter its irritating waiting my turn.

I'm not sure if every HD operates the same way, but over here you call the Pro Desk with your order then pick it up. I am curious why you decided to use the PVA primer? What purpose did the PVA primer serve in your scenario?

I took the opportunity to use it up while getting paint store paint. I wanted to do it how all the other painters do before trying to use it directly on the wall. I regret not using it on at least one wall. Not sure why I didn't do that. I don't really expect the Diamond to work like the Ultra did. After first coat I can see the PVA through the film...

Ok. I jumped right in and pole sanded the wall and rolled second coat of Diamond. I immediately noticed a strong resistance feeling when spreading the paint. When I went to lay it off it was already well into the drying process. I had to battle with it to roll a consistent film and by the time I applied the last roll the start of the wall was dry. I am not impressed. I don't think this stuff will seal anything esspecially bare drywall.
When you call Homedepot there is a option for the paint department but it just rings. I asked the paint desk if I could call in paint and they said no. I asked if anyone ever answers the phone and they said they haven't had a phone at the desk for a long time because nobody has time to answer it. Also, one location gives me $7 off per gallon and the other will not. The guy at the contractor desk is going outside of the rules to do this for me and told me not to tell anyone. I had to bug him for a very long time to get that discount. On top of all that they need to manually adjust the price for every gallon and write it into a paper and get it approved. It's sucha pain. Maybe I should give Bejamin more a try next.

You will start of at the lowest disccount, and with volume, will move up to Gold eventually, which is a 20% discount off of all paint and primer. All you have to do is go to any lane to purchase your paint, and tell them you have Pro Rewards before they ring you up. You enter in your phone number, and boom! You're done. No need to go to the Pro Disk.

Why on Earth would You use PVA Primer? That stuff is pure Crap! Use Gardz and die happy! I haven't tried it, but a similar looking product to Gardz, but cheaper is the Roman RX- 35. Some of the Home Depots carry it, or you can have them bring it in.

Better in the trash, than on the walls.

You guys are right. I haven't used PVA on my own job ever. Its always been BEHR. I tried the Diamond and primer but I can already tell the Diamond is not something special even though people make it sound like it. It dries as fast as you roll it. I told a guy local this and he criticized me for being too slow even though I was rolling how I would. No Diamond at HD. I am talking about Behr, and we do not have pro rewards in Canada. It dosn't exist in Canada. For me to buy Behr I pay a premium price and there's nothing I can do about it. Ive tried many times to get more of a discount and it won't happen. I tried Diamond only becuase of the latest Behr topic and that Dulux kept bugging me to try so I finally tried it. I may try the Cloverdale again, and then Regal select. I wish there was a paint like Behr at a paint store for a decent price. Why is this such a hassel my friends.

I recall Diamond being a very "slow" paint the last time I used it. Why can't formulations ever be for the better?? Instead of going from aight to complete garbage, maybe aight to halfway decent. That would be a shocker. I've yet to try Regal Select so that may be my next paint of choice. How does that apply compared to BEHR? Anybody??

We'll pry it out of him eventually. I can see why Brian is holding out though. Especially after this malarkey with BEHR. I'd be like a deer in the headlights.
