Not wanting to find out firsthand if BEHR glueless was an issue in their exterior line, I opted for Glidden's Fortis 350. It was our first exterior of the year being in Michigan. We were painting white over white. It was faded pretty bad so I assumed it would be a definite 2 coater. To my surprise, only a few areas needed a second coat. Overall, I liked this paint and will probably use it on the next house. Definitely head and shoulders above SW's A-100 IMHO. Anyone else use this?

I use to use Fortis Exterior exclusively when I first started painting. I was one of the few guy in Hawaii to use it because it was expensive and contractors like using cheap ass paint. It was very thick stuff and dried really quickly on the brush. Too quickly! but seemed to be very durable, except for the mildew control was horrible. Back then, there was no 350 or 450. It was just plain Fortis. Then a few years ago ICI Dulux got bought out by someone else and changed all the labels and re worked the formulas and all of a sudden there's an Interior and the numbers showed up. The 350 is not as good as the 450 (according to PPG). How did you find the paint? Was it thick? Adhesion? Oh yea, the other thing that happened with Fortis, is that it had issues when used over the Gripper Primer (which was from the same company) so they started recommending people to use some other Primer.

The white base wasn't bad to work with. Not really sure on adhesion. I can only judge by how it washed off my hands. Seemed average. I may try the 450 on the next exterior. I get a great discount at the local PPG. $22 a gallon for the 350 compared to over $30 for A-100. What's everybody else's "go to" exterior paint??

Too soon to tell on longivity. But seems to grip well.

SW doesn't budge a whole lot on price up here in Yankeeville. One of the many reasons why I usually go elsewhere.

Fortis was the exterior paint we used prior to Behr so I'll be looking into trying Fortis again real soon. Another local painter had a weird problem 2 years ago with 350. I recall seeing Super Paint on a few of his last jobs. Not sure if he switched, but I'll follow-up with him. Almost time to catch up on exteriors from winter homes.

Yea, isn't that the cheap stuff (as in crapy)!

Brian, I'm surprised You liked the Fortis. You usually aren't much for fast drying, thick paints. From My experience, they don't come any faster drying or thicker than that. But then again, I haven't used it in many years.

The first time I tried Behr Ultra, I popped the lid of a quart and held the can upside down. The paint wouldn't fall out of the can.

I don't ever remember seeing Ultra thick at all, and I used it when it first came out.

I've always diluted it a little with water.
