Hello! I have no business being in any of the forms here since I'm one of those people you have to come and fix the mess they made when they can no longer handle it, but I will throw myself at your mercy all the same.
I'm stupidly trying to paint oak spindles with a plastic coating. They are builder's grade, so... Are all you professionals sick to death of fixing messes from Pinterest idiots, like myself, yet?
I purchased the Extreme Bond Primer since I can't find Stix locally and the Zinsser Cover Stain was giving me Black Lung ( I know it's not possible), great reasoning. I bought a Purdy 12", 3/4" core frame and the Purdy Colossus microfiber .5" nap on the advice of the SW employee and a professional in the store.
I have sanded, used Acetone and deglosser, tried multiple brushes, with failure and shedding.
I suspect the first problem is the microfiber. I let the first one marinate in the paint for 5 mins. with fuzz galore on the spindles. Next one, I washed in water and dried until damp, another 5 in paint, same outcome. Think I tainted the paint the first f**k up, I dumped it and put fresh in the tray. More fuzz. The form the roller takes on as well as the massive amount of paint it eats gives me pause.
If anyone has made it to the end of this and has ideas, please share before I open and vein, or worse yet break out my Earlex HV5500 and really make it bad.
As an aside, I have purchased 3 guides, one just to make the donation to the site for all the free and invaluable help you all provide. Would love to see a "donate" option to make it more fair to you all!
