I keep my eye out for a self priming paint in the UK but the only one in Zinsser perma white which comes in gloss or satin. UK is so far behind on water base paints it is a joke you guys in US etc are so lucky to have manufacturers who invest in their paints
Anyone used Zinsser perma white on trims? I'm pretty sure there are other paints on the uk market that are self priming on trim , paints that don't make the claim to be. I don't see why some of the wall paints that are self priming couldn't be used on trim. Providing it covers all the necessary criteria required of a primer. It just needs some extensive experimenting.

A Gallon of Advance is £56 in the UK Mike Daz,
That's $80.87 US dollars!!! And I know You guys pay a high tax as well.
That's a lot of bucks for a Gallon of paint! Somebody is making some big bank!
Wonder where the extra money is going? That's a medium priced paint this side of the pond in my mind. Farrow and Ball is around £75 for a 5 litre tin. Don't forget our tin sizes are different, there's about a fifth less in your tins compared to our.

Wonder where the extra money is going? But I'm guessing the BM is a US sized gallon tin. As is the mythic stuff we get.

One thing I've really liked about BM is the consistency of their sheen's throughout their interior and exterior products. In contrast the SW sheens are all over the board throughout their product lines. When using multiple products on a project this is a huge plus.

Yea, some of their "Satins" are more of an eggshell. I haven't used a lot of their different paints so your info is good to know.

We are getting the Gallon tins in the UK Mike, many people who have tried the Advance satin and high Gloss love it and are raving about how good it is.

Picked up some ultra spec, Ben and advance. I've been volunteered to paint my pastors office. Gonna do some testing while its sitting in my possession. All I can say is the man better know I love him to death. Very few people rank high enough for free painting.

Let us know how it goes with that paint (not that I can afford it) And quote your Pastor this Bible verse: "The workman is worthy of his hire".

Just seen a demonstration of Ben Moores Aura Matt and was amazed by the coverage in one coat in comparison to UK paints it is far superior!

If you have to use Aura you will see some slight application techniques that need to be adressed . Otherwise enjoy. Its hard for me to belive we are making superior paints out here. Whats you guys top of the line matte wall emulsions?

The coverage of dark colors with Aura is exceptional, especially if you use any of the Affinity colors.
My one gripe with Aura is that on level 4/5 walls the roller stipple wants to sag if you apply it just a little to thick. I've never seen this before because the only areas that sage are the peaks of the roller stipple.

Have only hand brushed 1 door with Aura. Not enough time with it but it seemed better then some of the other paints I've used before. Kinda funny the lady who bought it, bought a color she ended up not liking and just repainted over it...$>toilet.
